What You'll Need
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- A Wi-Fi internet connection

Device & Network Requirements
- Apple: iOS 13+ (iPhone or iPad)
- Android: Version 8+ smartphones
- Internet: A Wi-Fi internet connection (2.4 GHz only)
Download the Ting App
For iPhone: Search "Ting" in the App Store (look for the yellow icon), or tap below:
Open the App & Follow the Prompts
- Launch the Ting app.
- Select "Set up my Ting Sensor."
- Create your account.
- Review and accept the Terms & Conditions.
- Check your inbox for a confirmation code, then enter it in the app.

Follow the guided steps to connect your sensor to Wi-Fi and plug
it in.
- You'll be asked to enable Bluetooth® and Location Services once during setup.
Placement Tips
- Plug Ting directly into a standard 3-prong indoor outlet.
- Best locations: Interior outlets with strong Wi-Fi signal.
No 3-prong outlet?
Use a grounding adapter plug (2-to-3-prong) - available at most hardware stores or online.
Important: Use the small metal grounding clip - install the outlet cover-plate screw through that hole to ground the adapter. Never break off the grounding prong on your Ting sensor.
Installation Troubleshooting
Not Receiving Confirmation Code
- Check your spam/junk folder.
- Confirm your email address in the Ting app: Menu (☰) → Settings → verify your email.
- If entered incorrectly: tap "Need to change email?" in the app → update and save.

Ting App Requesting Payment
- The Ting app is free - no payment required.

If you see a payment screen:
- Make sure you downloaded the official Ting app from the App Store or Google Play:
- If a QR code redirected you to payment, restart the download from the official store links above.

Wi-Fi Error Codes During Setup - General Tips
- Keep your phone within 6 feet of the Ting sensor during setup.
- Connect only to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Errors 1004 / 1025 / 1061–1063 → Incorrect Wi-Fi Password
- Verify your Wi-Fi password on another device.
Then reattempt installation:
- Unplug your Ting sensor.
- Restart your phone.
- Open the Ting app → Menu (☰).

Tap + Set up my Ting Sensor and follow setup
instructions.
- Re-enter the verified Wi-Fi password carefully.

Error 1006 → Weak Signal / Too Far from Router
- Move the Ting sensor closer to your main Wi-Fi router or access point.
Then reattempt installation:
- Unplug your Ting sensor.
- Restart your phone.
- Open the Ting app → Menu (☰).
- Tap + Set up my Ting Sensor and follow setup instructions.

Error 1024 → Wi-Fi Name (SSID) Not Found
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is visible.
- If your network is 5 GHz only, Ting will not detect it - confirm that your router also broadcasts a 2.4 GHz network.
- If your SSID is hidden, select the option to manually enter your SSID and password during installation.
Then reattempt installation:
- Unplug your Ting sensor.
- Restart your phone.
- Open the Ting app → Menu (☰).
- Tap + Set up my Ting Sensor and follow setup instructions.

Error 1064 → General Connection Issue
- Restart your Wi-Fi router and modem.
- Wait 3–5 minutes for full internet restoration.
Then reattempt installation:
- Unplug your Ting sensor.
- Restart your phone.
- Open the Ting app → Menu (☰).
- Tap + Set up my Ting Sensor and follow setup instructions.
