Android: How to turn Bluetooth on
Bluetooth needs to be enabled to install the Ting sensor. The Ting app uses Bluetooth to establish the Wi-Fi connection to your home network.
Note: Not all Android devices are the same and some display settings differently. These instructions are for the Pixel 2. If these instructions are not similar to your phone, please consult your phone's manual or the manufacturer's support website.
Follow the steps below to enable Bluetooth on your Android device:
- Go to Settings.

Tap Connected Devices

Tap Connection Preferences

Tap Bluetooth

Toggle Bluetooth to On
- Return to the Ting app to continue setup.
iOS: How to turn on Bluetooth
Bluetooth needs to be enabled to install the Ting sensor. The Ting app uses Bluetooth to establish the Wi-Fi connection to your home network.
Follow the steps below to enable Bluetooth in iOS:
- Go to Settings

Tap Bluetooth

Toggle Bluetooth On
- If you're using iOS 13 or newer, follow the additional steps below. Otherwise, return to the Ting app.
If you've upgraded to iOS 13, please check the app-level settings below.
App-level settings for iOS 13 and newer:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down and tap on Ting

In the Ting app settings:

Toggle Bluetooth / Bluetooth Sharing to On
- Ensure Location is set to "While Using the App"
- Return to the Ting app to complete setup
