If there is a power outage in your home, the service will not function. The Ting sensor does not have a backup battery to supply power - with no power in the home, electrical fire hazard detection is not necessary.
Ting is normally able to detect a power outage and send out a power outage notification before your sensor loses power. And if your home is in a community power outage that lasts more than an hour and it is below freezing in the vicinity, you’ll receive a frozen pipe alert to help you stay on top of water damage risk from burst pipes.
